Today, the Star Spangled Salute honors ‘The Greatest Generation’, the veterans of WWII who on this day 75 years ago, at 6:30 in the morning, stormed the beaches of Normandy, France and saved the world. This is how the announcement sounded when broadcast by KRLD in Dallas
The Normandy landings were the landing operations on Tuesday, 6 June 1944 of the Allied invasion of Normandy in Operation Overlord during World War II. Code named Operation Neptune and often referred to as D-Day, it was the largest seaborne invasion in history.
