After months of debate on a wind farm proposal in southeast Reno County, a decision has now been made.
One “no” vote in the County Commission from Commissioner Ron Hirst means they fell short of the unanimous vote they needed.
Now, that wind turbine project will not move forward.
NextEra Energy had wanted to build more than 80 turbines in a site north of Cheney Lake and south of Haven.
The County Commission needed a unanimous vote to override the county’s Planning Commission, which had recommended the county deny the wind farm in a 4-3 vote April 23.
