Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors 94-year old World War II veteran William C. Wagner. William missed his graduation day back in 1944 when he went to serve in the Navy as a cook. 76 years later William was given that diploma he missed out on in a special ceremony. William’s son who was at the ceremony said, “How awesome is that for a young teenager to sit back and put his country before his own wants and needs. What he sacrificed for me and my brothers and sisters, and then also for his country, I believe I will never be able to repay,” William said it was the 2nd most special day of his life, the first was the day he married his wife. Congratulations William and thank you for your service.
