Suspects arrested after car theft with kids inside

UPDATE: Two men wanted in connection to a car theft with kids inside have been arrested.

A 31-year-old man is facing kidnapping and drug charges. A 55-year-old man was arrested on drug charges and for driving while suspended.

Wichita police say a mom left her keys in her car Wednesday afternoon, while going inside a gas station near Pawnee and Broadway. The 55-year-old suspect is accused of driving a vehicle with the 31-year-old man inside, and dropping him off at the gas station to steal the car.

Three kids were still in the car when it was stolen. They are identified as a 2-year-old girl, a 6-month-old boy and a 1-year-old boy. None of them were hurt and the stolen was found shortly after it was taken.

Police say this highlights how quick and easy your car can be stolen if you leave your keys inside.

Police are asking the public for help locating two men that may be responsible for the abduction of three children Wednesday afternoon. The first male is described as wearing a red shirt, dark shorts and a white KU hat. The second male is described as wearing a multi-colored shirt and dark shorts. The two were in a white SUV that appears to be a Suburban.

If you have any information about the incident you are encouraged to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.

Wichita Police responded to an abduction call around 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. They learned that three children were taken after a man stole a van at a gas station near Broadway and Kincaid.

Wichita Police Chief Gordon Ramsay says a mother went inside the gas station to pay for gas and left her keys in the car. A man then stole her maroon Town and Country van with a 6-month-old, an 18-month-old and a 2-year-old child inside. Police were able to locate the van about 30 minutes later about 8 blocks away in the 1500 block of South Gold. The children were found unharmed.

An investigation is still ongoing and police have not made an arrest. The only description police have at this time is a white male.
