Six bodies of water across Kansas are currently under a blue-green algae warning.
- Big Eleven, Wyandotte County
- Jerry Ivey Pond, Saline County
- Keith Sebelius Reservoir, Norton County
- Marion Reservoir, Marion County
- Gather Pond near Milford, Geary County
- Webster Lake, Rooks County
Overbrook City Lake in Osage County has had its warning lifted.
When a warning is in place the water is unsafe to use for drinking, both for people and animals. Fish caught in a lake that is under a warning can still be eaten, but you’ll want to rinse them thoroughly and only eat fillet meat.
Algae watches are also in place for Lake Shawnee, Marion County Lake, and Carbondale East. It’s suggested to take similar action to a warning and keep from entering the water.
