A man who was trimming trees died after coming into contact with power lines in a north Wichita neighborhood. He is identified as 53-year-old Sergio Escalera, of Wichita.
Police and emergency crews were called to the 1400 block of North Fairview around 11 a.m. Tuesday on a report of an electrocution. They found Escalera in a bucket truck behind a home. Power had to be turned off to the area so crews could get to him, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police spokesman Charley Davidson said Escalera was working for a local trimming company.
