Parts of Marion County Evacuated Due to Flooding

Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for parts of Marion County due to the rising Cottonwood River. Marion County Emergency Manager Randy Frank says residents who live on the west side or downtown area in Durham must leave their homes. Frank says ten people have been evacuated so far. There are currently no shelters set up. The US Army Corp of Engineers are currently releasing water from the Marion Reservoir. “The US Army Corp of Engineers are currently releasing water from the Marion Reservoir. Residents near the Cottonwood River should be aware that water will rise, causing possible flooding outside of the river banks. Roads may become impassable. Water is expected to rise at the Cottonwood River near Marion and near Florence, throughout today, Thursday, July 4th, and into the night,” Sharon Omstead, CFM said. “At this time, USACE is releasing the minimum amount necessary however, they may release greater amounts at any time.”

▪️ Indigo/330th
▪️ Indigo from 160th and North
▪️ 190th between Kanza-Limestone
▪️ 290th – 330th on Limestone OPEN as of 11:34
▪️ 290th/Nighthawk
▪️ 290th between Pawnee -Quail Creek
▪️ Pawnee between 330th-360th
▪️ Remington N of 280th
▪️ 290th E and W of Remington
▪️ 290th W of Lincolnville between Upland and Vista
▪️ 300th 1/4 mile W of Hwy 77
▪️ 310th/Wagon Wheel and also N of that intersection
