Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Vietnam veteran Dave Hansen.  After the violence of the war, Dave was in no hurry to hear the word “Vietnam” again.  That changed in 1979 when he and his wife were asked by a friend to take in a Vietnamese refugee family into their home. With a language barrier and not a lot of space, they agreed and a friendship and bond quickly grew. After a couple of years the families lost touch when Dave and his family moved.  Dave’s family and the Phungs had often wondered what had happened to one another, and just the other day for the first time in almost 40 years, the 2 families were reunited and talked about the kindness and friendship that had developed over those couple of years.  Thank you Dave for your service.
