Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors retired Supreme Court Justice and Navy Veteran John Paul Stevens. When he was young he met Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh and was at the ballpark when Babe Ruth hit his famous “called shot” home run in the 1932 World Series. He joined the Navy before the bombing of Pearl Harbor and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service with the Japanese code-breaking team. It was President Ford who chose him for the Supreme Court and John Paul Stevens served more than twice the average tenure for a Supreme Court Justice. Thank you for your service to your country.
