Wichita Police say a mother of four children has died after a domestic violence shooting in south Wichita.
Officers were called to a home in the 3100 block of south Elizabeth around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on the report of a shooting. When they entered the home they found 25-year-old Elsey Puente with a gunshot wound to her upper body.
She was taken by EMS to the hospital in critical condition and later died from her injuries. The woman’s 29-year-old live-in boyfriend was inside the home.
He has been taken into custody for second-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm. Puente’s 4 children, ages 2, 3, 5, and 8 were also inside of the home, but were not hurt.
The children have been placed with family. Formal charges against the 29-year-old man are pending.
