2019 Primary Election Votes Reported

The primary election votes for mayor and the at-large school board seat have been reported by the Sedgwick County Election Office. There were 22,640 ballots cast and a 9.8% voter turnout. In a very close mayoral race, Jeff Longwell received 7,136 votes, or 32.3% of the vote. In second place, was Brandon Whipple who picked up 5,729, or 25.9% of the vote.  Whipple was barely able to edge out businessman Lyndy Wells, who received 5,569, or 25.2% of the vote.  Provisional ballots may effect the outcome, but it is likely Whipple will face Longwell in November’s general election. The mayoral field also included Amy Lyon, Mark Gietzen, Brock Booker, Joshua Atkinson, Ian Demory, Joshua Atkinson and Marty Mork.

In the primary race for the at-large school board seat, former Wichita State University student body president Joseph W. Shepard will face incumbent Sheril Logan. Shepard earned 5,173, or 32.7% of the vote, while Logan received 4,733, or 29.9% of the vote. Also contending for the seat were Trish Hileman and Brent Davis. Every candidate secured at least 2,000 total votes.

The general election will take place November 6. You can find your polling place at myvoteinfo.voteks.org.
