UPDATE: Man leads deputies on chase from Sedgwick County jail

Wichita police and Sedgwick County sheriff’s deputies are investigating after a chase that led from the county jail to a major intersection on the city’s east side.

28-year-old Victor Walker was in the jail lobby when deputies discovered he had an active felony warrant for his arrest.  He was handcuffed and placed under arrest.  As the deputy was collecting the Walker’s property, he fled the lobby.  As he ran out the door, he struck two citizens with the door, leaving them with minor injuries.

Walker ran to a vehicle parked near the jail and got into the driver’s seat and drove away.  As he drove away, he struck three parked vehicles and drove over the foot of a 41-year-old Sheriff’s Office sergeant.  The sergeant was not seriously hurt.   Walker drove to the east bound off-ramp at Kellogg and Oliver, where he struck two additional vehicles at the intersection before crashing into a traffic signal.  No injuries were reported from the crashes.

Walker was taken into custody, and deputies also arrested a 37-year-old man who was a front-seat passenger, along with a 38-year-old woman in the back seat.
