An 8-foot WuShock statue will be coming to the Wichita State Campus on the entrance plaza to the new YMCA building.

The statue is happening thanks to Steve Clark, a Greater Wichita YMCA board member, volunteer and donor , for whom the  YMCA branch will be named. Clark is also a WSU alumnus.

“WuShock is important to our family,” Clark said. “It has been exciting to see an idea, through local artists and members of the Shocker community, come to life. I’m anxious for the community to see the statue while making use of the YMCA and student wellness center behind it.”

The new statue will feature a more vintage WuShock appearance.

A date for the placement and dedication of the statue have not been announced yet. The new YMCA should be open in time for the spring 2020 semester.
