Wichita man sentenced for fatal 2017 shooting

A Wichita man has been sentenced to over 28 years in prison for a fatal shooting that happened in 2017.

23-year-old Jeremiah Mork was convicted in June of voluntary manslaughter, two counts of aggravated battery, and criminal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. Sedgwick County district judge Jeffrey Syrios sentenced Mork to 322 months in prison, and the judge added 17 months because Mork violated his parole on an earlier case, for a total sentence of 339 months.

Mork was convicted in the December, 2017 shooting death of 45-year-old Randy Gibson.  Police said Gibson was moving out of a home in the 2200 block of South Parkridge when he was shot, and he was found to have 15 bullet wounds.  Two men who were helping Gibson were injured.
