A man in his twenties has potentially serious injuries after he was shot in a moving car.
It happened around 10:30 Monday morning on Interstate 135 near 21st Street North. Wichita Police say a passenger in the car shot the victim and then got out and started walking away.
The driver of the car drove the victim to the Patrol North substation near 21st and Hillside to get him help. EMS took the man to the hospital for treatment.
Police say the driver stayed at the substation and cooperated with police. A Kansas Highway Patrol trooper found the suspect walking on I-135 and took him into custody.
Police Captain Lemuel Moore tells KFDI News it’s not known yet if the shooting was accidental or if the man intended to shoot the victim. Moore says at the moment, it does not appear to be a gang-related incident.
Police have several scenes they are processing along 21st Street, as well as along the interstate and the 2500 block of North Kansas.
