UPDATE: Wichita Public Schools says incident did not happen outside of Woodman Elementary

Wichita Public Schools says the incident Thursday afternoon in the 2500 block of south Hiram did not happen outside of Woodman Elementary as Wichita Police stated during their regularly scheduled briefing Friday morning.

Spokesperson Susan Arnesman tells KFDI News that it actually happened in a neighborhood to the south of the school and not on district property.

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on numerous charges after a pointing a gun at a group of girls Thursday afternoon outside of Woodman Elementary.

It happened shortly after 4 p.m. in the 2500 block of South Hiram, near Pawnee and Seneca.  Wichita Police say A group of 5 boys and 6 girls were walking to Woodman Elementary from Truesdale Middle School, when they got into an argument.

A 14-year-old boy with the group pulled out a gun and pointed it at the girls.  Wichita Police arrived to the scene quickly and took the 14-year-old into custody.

He was booked into the juvenile intake center for 6 counts of aggravated battery, 1 count of criminal possession of a firearm by a juvenile, and unlawful use of a weapon.  No one was hurt in the incident.
