Man dies after being shot by Salina police, woman found dead inside home

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer involved shooting that left a 28-year-old man dead in Salina on Wednesday.

Salina Police responded to a call at residence in the 2000 block of Harold Ave. When officers arrived they found 71-year-old Linda Kromer on the first floor of home where she had been stabbed to death.

Officers heard noises in the basement and went downstairs where they found 28-year-old Jeremy Connolly armed with a knife, barricaded in a room. Pepper spray was deployed and several commands were given to drop the knife. Connolly advanced towards officers, and was subsequently shot. Connolly was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

No officers were hurt in the shooting. The shooting remains under investigation led by the KBI and the Crime Scene Response Team.
