The City of Wichita will be closing 9th street between I-135 and Piatt Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon to celebrate the completion of a $3.5 million improvement project.
The stretch of road on 9th street received pavement, drainage and pedestrian upgrades. Community members also helped with adding art features such as paintings, laying tiles, and even a mural.
Speakers at the event will include State Senators, Representatives and local City Council members.
Electronic messages are near the area to give advance warning of the closure.
