Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Army veteran Kyle Chanitz.  Kyle was deployed in Afghanistan for almost 3 years.  In that time he saw intense fighting, suffered concussions which eventually led to seizures.  When he returned home he tried to reinsert himself into civilian life, attended a few college courses but eventually dropped out.  The 18-months that followed were a downward spiral of being on the road and drug overdoses.  His travels led him to a VA hospital in Virginia, where he discovered a new life and Project Healing Waters, a non-profit that helps disabled veterans through fly fishing.  Fly fishing not only turned Kyle’s life around, it led him to his future wife, Jessica.  Congratulations Kyle and thank you for your service.
