Augusta police say they have arrested a student and an adult after finding that e-cigarettes with THC have been in use at the high school.
A student was arrested at Augusta High School Thursday after students were reported to be vaping in a restroom. Officers also found an electronic cartridge that tested positive for THC, which is the main psychoactive compound in marijuana.
The student was released to his parents. Officers also arrested an adult for distributing the e-cigarettes with THC.
Augusta police say they have investigated about six e-cigarette cases since the beginning of the school year. This was the first case involving THC. Augusta school officials have been working to keep e-cigarettes from being brought into the schools, and it has provided information to parents on what to look out for.
