Kansas Governor, Laura Kelly, announced the state will recognize National Hunting and Fishing Day on September 28.

The day recognizes the important roles Kansas hunters and anglers have played throughout the state’s history. These people were behind early efforts to form what is now the Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism.

In 2018, Kansans generated more than $32-million from license and permit fees, and another $629-million from other purchases related to hunting and fishing.

Kansas is also home to several well known outdoor based companies including Bushnell, Garmin, Coleman, Hodgdon, and Cobalt.

National Hunting and Fishing Day was established in 1972 to recognize the contributions hunters and anglers have made to national conservation efforts.
