Free flu shots available Saturday to those in need

The University of Kansas School of Pharmacy and the United Way of the Plains are partnering again for the 10th annual Operation Immunization Saturday.

The event will provide flu shots free of charge to the unemployed, uninsured, or those unable to pay.  They will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis while supplies last.

United Way of the Plains provided $20,000 to purchase the flu vaccines, which will be administered by KU pharmacy students, under the supervision of certified pharmacists.

Guadalupe Clinic, GraceMed, the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita, JayDoc Community Clinic, Dandurand Drugstore, Wichita Academy of Pharmacists, HealthCore Clinic, Hunter Health and Walgreens are also helping to support the event.  The flu shot clinics will operate Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations:

GraceMed, 1122 N. Topeka St.
Guadalupe Clinic, 2825 S. Hillside St.
Guadalupe Clinic, 940 S. Saint Francis
HealthCore Clinic, 2707 E. 21st St. N.
Hunter Health Clinic, 527 N. Grove St.
Café con Leche, North High School, 1437 N. Rochester St.
