Police warn against leaving vehicles running unattended

Wichita Police are warning vehicle owners not to leave them warming up unattended.

Lt. Scott Brunow with the Auto Theft Section says in the past week, 3 vehicles left running unattended have been stolen.  Police say you need to stay with your vehicle if you plan on warming it up, or consider getting a remote start system installed.

So far, 1900 vehicles have been stolen in Wichita this year.  That number is down 14% over the previous year, but Lt. Brunow says that number is still very high and they would like to see it decrease.
