The City of Wichita Public Works and Utilities Department says they are ready to respond to the winter storm.
Director Alan King says their crews are standing by and they will activate all 60 trucks and revert to 12 hour shifts if need be to keep snow and ice off of city streets. King says everything will depend on the timing of the storm.
“We’re hovering around freezing. We know that overnight we are going to get some freezing temperatures. What’s kind of a wildcard in all of this is the timing of the precipitation and those freezing conditions.”
King says if they will be laying down sand and salt mixtures to try to make the roads safe as possible for travel.
