A 50-year-old woman is in critical condition at a Wichita hospital after she was shot while inside a vacant home that was for sale.

It happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of South Garst, near Maple and Ridge Road.  Wichita Police say a 43-year-old man entered the home he was selling and found the woman and two men inside.

He fired a gun at the three, striking the 50-year-old woman in the abdomen.  The two men fled on foot, while the woman drove away in a car.

She was later found int he car in the 900 block of south Seneca.  Police Captain Brent Allred says the woman was taken to the hospital for a non-life threatening injury.

She is currently in critical condition.  Allred says the home had been burglarized several times in the past and they are working to determine if the woman and her accomplices were involved in those burglaries.

The two men are still being sought.  Police say the homeowner is cooperating with the investigation.

Police are investigating a shooting that was reported Tuesday afternoon at a home in west Wichita.

The shooting was reported just after 4 p.m. at a home in the 400 block of South Garst, in a neighborhood near Maple and Ridge Road.

Police said a man discovered several people burglarizing his home, and he fired a shot, striking a 50-year-old woman.   She was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

Police have been looking for the others involved in the burglary.
