Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors a group of Alabama law enforcement officers who helped a disabled Gulf War veteran in his time of need. The officers came across the man walking in the damp and cold with his oxygen tank, trying to hitchhike. He was desperate to get to a doctors appointment he was told he could not miss. That’s when law enforcement stepped in and from county line to county line they got him there and back. They posted the story on Facebook and from there it took an unexpected turn when the man’s son, who hadn’t seen his father in years, saw the story and is now in the process of reconnecting with his dad. To the Gulf War veteran who chose to remain anonymous, thank you for your service.
