Four girls accused of beating store employee in east Wichita

Police have arrested four young girls for a shoplifting incident that led to an assault on a store employee in east Wichita.

Police spokesman Charley Davidson said in a press release that the incident was reported November 9th at a T.J. Maxx store in the 8100 block of East Kellogg.   A 40-year-old woman who works at the store reported three girls shoplifting items from the store.   The employee was kicked and beaten when she confronted the girls.  A fourth girl got out of a car and attacked the employee and took her cell phone.    Police said the employee momentarily lost consciousness and ended up with minor injuries.

Detectives were able to identify the suspects, and they later arrested a 12-year-old girl and three 15-year-old girls.   Information will be presented to the Sedgwick County district attorney’s office for the filing of charges.
