Holiday travel conditions not looking good

Holiday travel conditions not looking good

If you plan to travel to the northwest part of Kansas this week for the Thanksgiving holiday, be prepared.

Starting early Tuesday morning, the northwest part of the state could see up to 6 to 8 inches of snow around Goodland and Colby. Combined with 30-40 mph winds, travel in that part of the state will be dangerous.  Whiteout conditions are expected on Interstate 70 into Colorado and travel is being discouraged.

On Thanksgiving,  a second storm system will bring a rain/snow mix to western and northern Kansas, but snow amounts are questionable at this time.

Wichita will see a wintry mix changing to rain, then mostly cloudy on Thanksgiving.  There could be a chance for rain and thunderstorms on Friday.   Tuesday’s high in Wichita will be 61, then it drops to 45 on Wednesday and 41 on Thanksgiving Day.
