A Winfield preschool teacher has been named as the 2020 Kansas Teacher of the Year.

Tabatha Rosproy, a preschool teacher at the Winfield Early Learning Center, was named during the annual Kansas Teacher of the Year Banquet on November 23rd at the Marriott Hotel in Wichita.

The announcement was made by Kansas Commissioner of Education Randy Watson, and he said Rosproy knows how important social-emotional learning is and makes it a priority in her classroom.

Rosproy was chosen from eight finalists, who were chosen from a pool of more than 130 nominations.   One of the other finalists was Kara Belew, an 11th and 12th grade social studies teacher at Andover Central High School.

Rosproy received her bachelor’s degree in early childhood unified in 2009 from Southwestern College, and she is currently working on her masters degree in education from Fort Hays State University.   She was chosen as Winfield Rookie Teacher of the Year in 2015.
