Wichita man sentenced for death of infant son

A Wichita man has been sentenced for the death of his six month old son in 2018.

Dorl Gwyn will spend nearly 39 years in prison after pleading to second-degree murder, saying he was shadowboxing with the baby to toughen him up.

The mother of Jazz Gwyn found him not breathing on April 10. She took the baby to a a hospital where he died soon after.  Medical examiners found the boy suffered multiple injuries including a laceration to his heart, two healing rib fractures, blood in his chest cavity and abdomen, bruising to the abdomen and head injuries.

After Gwyn’s sentence is up he will have to register as a violent offender. Gwyn had spent time in prison before for battery and criminal threat in a case from 2014.
