Man fatally shot at south Wichita motel

A 34-year-old man was killed at a south Wichita motel and a suspect has been arrested.

Police were called to the Countryside Inn, near Broadway and Kellogg, around 11:45 Monday night. They found the victim at the scene in his pickup, and officers began lifesaving procedures, but the man died at the scene.

Video evidence led to the arrest of a 40-year-old man at a different motel.

A motive for this shooting is not clear yet but police say it was not a random incident.  They said the suspect has previously been arrested and convicted on charges that include aggravated burglary, robbery, weapons violations and drug possession.

The victim’s name has not been released, though officials did say he was in town from Colorado to do pipeline work.

This is the same motel where a man was killed during a drug deal on November 24, though in this case police say the victim and suspect were not staying at the Countryside Inn.
