A homeowner is recovering after being shot early Wednesday.
Wichita police say a 32-year-old man knocked on a door in the 1800 block of South Topeka, near Topeka and Funston. That man demanded to be let in but the homeowner refused. The man outside then shot the homeowner through the door and forced his way in.
Despite being hurt, the homeowner was able to grab his own gun and shoot the 32-year-old intruder, who later died at a hospital. He has been identified as Jesse Greene, from Independence, Missouri.
The 35-year-old homeowner is still hospitalized and there has not been an update on his condition yet.
Police report this shooting was not random and that drugs may have been involved. An investigation is ongoing and there has been no arrest.
