Reno County DA to step down, run for judicial seat

Reno County district attorney Keith Schroeder says he will retire effective June 1st of 2020.

Schroeder has served in the district attorney’s office since 1989 and he was first elected as DA in 2000.   In a press release, he expressed thanks to his staff for their loyalty and hard work and to local law enforcement agencies for their trust and dedication.   He said the DA’s office is in good shape and it’s time for him to step aside.

Schroeder said he intends to run for a district judge seat in Reno County, since incumbent Timothy Chambers has announced that he won’t seek re-election.

The Reno County Republican Party will have to organize a convention to nominate someone for appointment by the governor to fill the remainder of Schroeder’s term as district attorney for the 27th Judicial District.
