Eastbound Kellogg was closed for a few hours this morning because of two crashes where alcohol use is suspected.
Officers were on the highway near the Central Business exit investigating a crash that had been reported at 3:40 a.m. One car was involved in that case and it’s believed the driver may have been drinking. Officers had the right lane blocked while they were investigating, when a driver hit a patrol car with one officer inside. Police say the driver was moving at 60-mph and it’s believed she may have been drinking as well.
The patrol car was hit in the rear corner and spun several times before stopping.
No serious injuries were reported to anyone involved in either crash.
The Wichita Police Department says this case perfectly highlights the dangers of drunk driving.
