A man has received a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole for 25 years for the molestation of two 10-year-old girls.

Judge Bruce Brown sentenced 51-year-old Gene Cusick of Maize Friday, after he pleaded guilty in October to two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a
child.  The crimes happened between August of 2014 and October of 2018.

Cusick reportedly gained the trust of the children’s parents in part by telling them that he had lost his 10-year-old daughter in a go-cart accident.  Detectives with the Exploited and Missing Child Unit were able to determine that his story was fabricated.

The crimes were reported after the children reported them to their parents.  If Cusick does ever receive parole, he will face lifetime probation that includes electronic monitoring and registration as a sex offender.
