Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement campaign underway

Law enforcement across Kansas are participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement campaign.

Extra officers will be out on the roads between now and New Year’s Day specifically looking for drunk or impaired drivers.  It’s estimated between now and New Year’s Day, up to 300 drivers will be arrested in Kansas for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

On average, 3 people are hurt every day and one person is killed every three days in alcohol or drug-related crashes in Kansas.  DUI crashes tend to be more severe as well.

A person is over 2 and a half times more likely to be injured or killed in a crash that is drug or alcohol-related compared to normal crashes.  Those convicted of drunk driving or placed in diversion programs often end up paying fines and fees costing several thousands of dollars.
