One person is dead following a car-pedestrian incident in Wichita’s Riverside neighborhood. It happened shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday at 13th and Payne, between North River Blvd. and Bitting. A man believed to be in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police were looking for an SUV that left the scene, but within an hour, someone called to report being involved in the accident. Police have been talking to that driver and they’re looking over his vehicle.
The man’s death is believed to be accidental. Witnesses reported the vehicle coming around a curve before striking the man in the street.
