Boil water advisory issued for Mount Hope

Kansas health officials have issued a boil water advisory for the city of Mount Hope, in northwest Sedgwick County.

The advisory was issued because of a loss of pressure in the system, resulting from a water main break.   It went into effect Monday and will stay in place until health officials can determine that the system is no longer at risk of contamination.

A lack of pressure in a water system can increase the risk of bacterial contamination.

Residents are urged to boil water for one minute before drinking or use in food preparation.   If tap water appears dirty, residents should let the water run until it clears.
