Charges filed in fatal knife attack in Wichita

A Pittsburg, Kansas man has been charged in connection with a knife attack that led to the death of his sister’s former boyfriend.

24-year-old Morgan Prager made his first appearance Wednesday in Sedgwick County district court.  He was charged with second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.  He is due back in court on January 30th.

Prager was arrested in Pittsburg after an assault was reported in Wichita on January 11th.  19-year-old Vincent Venturella was taken to a hospital with a severe laceration to his neck, and he died two days later.    Police believe Prager and Venturella were involved in an ongoing dispute that led to the assault at a home in the 200 block of North Spruce.
