Wichita police have identified the victim from a child abuse investigation, and they said the child has died of her injuries.
Police were called to a home on January 10th in the 3600 block of West 13th Street, on a report of a child not breathing. Officers found nine-month-old Maela Flores with critical injuries, and she was taken to a hospital. She died Wednesday.
Detectives said Flores was in the care of 25-year-old Brietan Rader, and police found a marijuana growing operation inside the home. A six-year-old boy and a two-year-old boy were taken into protective custody.
Rader has been charged with first degree murder, along with child abuse and drug-related charges. He is being held on a bond of $250,000 and his next court appearance is scheduled for January 30th.
