United Way creates fund to help aviation workers affected by layoffs

The United Way of the Plains in Wichita has created a special Laid-Off Workers Fund to help aviation workers affected by the suspension of the Boeing MAX program.

The workers who qualify can get help with their mortgage or rent payments and utility costs.  Funds will not go directly to individual workers, but they will be paid on the worker’s behalf to a landlord, mortgage company or utility company.   The fund is being managed by the United Way.

People can donate to the fund by going online at www.unitedwayplains.org/laid-off-fund or by texting the word LAYOFF to 41444.   Checks can also be made out to United Way of the Plains and mailed to United Way of the Plains, Attn: Laid-Off Workers Fund, P.O. Box 47208, Wichita, KS 67201-7208.
