The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has reported an officer-involved shooting on the Kansas Turnpike in Chase County. The shooting involved a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said troopers were involved in a chase on the turnpike around 1:25 p.m. Troopers used tire deflation devices to stop the vehicle near mile marker 107, and then troopers got into a confrontation with an armed suspect. The man was shot and he was taken to a Wichita hospital. No law enforcement officers were injured. This happened about nine miles north of the Matfield Green service area.
No other details have been released.
