Snow, then rain expected for south central, southeast Kansas

Winter weather advisories have been issued for south central and southeast areas of Kansas for Wednesday, as a new winter storm system brings a mix of snow and rain to the state.

Snow is expected to fall in the Wichita area during the early morning hours, and then it will become a wintry mix toward midday.   The precipitation changes to rain for Wednesday afternoon, and the high is expected to be around 41 degrees.

A trace to an inch of snow is expected across south central Kansas.  Parts of east central and northeast Kansas could see one to three inches.

The snow is expected to create slippery road conditions for the early morning hours, and drivers are urged to slow down and use caution for the morning commute.
