The community organization Together Wichita has chosen artists and teams that will be working to design and paint 13 Keeper of the Plains sculptures as part of a tribute to the city’s 150th birthday.

The project is called Keeper 150, and it will have ten-foot-tall Keeper sculptures that will be placed at city parks.   More than 50 artists attended an informational meeting in January and and submissions were accepted through February 3rd.

A selection committee chose artists and locations for the Keepers on Parade:

District #2
Eastview Park –  Coral Donnelly
Stryker Sports Complex –  Angie Evans

The artists will receive their unpainted fiberglass Keeper in March and they’ll be asked to work with their city council member to get design input from people in the community and then create a design.   They will have until June 30th to complete the design.

The unveiling of the Keeper 150 sculptures will be announced later.
