The Wichita Police Department is investigating several suspicious character cases that may be related.

On Monday afternoon around 4 p.m., officers responded to a suspicious character call in the 7700 block of E. Kellogg. A woman reported that an unknown male driver and female passenger approached her 16-year-old and 17-year-old daughter in a tan Ford Freestar minivan and asked them to help with their child. The two teens did not see a child in the van, refused and then fled.

On Wednesday afternoon around 2 p.m., officers responded to a similar call in the 10500 block of West Central. A 59-year-old woman reported that a man and woman pulled up next to her in a minivan, and had asked her to help with their child. The woman refused and again there were no children seen in the van.

Similar reports have come from locations in Andover, and also at a business near 37th N. and Woodlawn.

The driver in these reports is described as a black man in his late 20s or 30s, small build and bald. The passenger is said to be a black female near the same age. The van is a tan Ford Freestar with a Kansas tag of 078 LWY.
