Star Spangled Salute: A Veteran Sets A World Record

Today’s Star Spangled Salute honors Marine Veteran George Hood and his world record.  George, after the Marines was a Drug Enforcement Agency special agent and was troubled by the high number of suicides by law enforcement officers.  In an effort to bring awareness to those numbers he decided to better his already impressive numbers when it came to planking. In 2011 he set his first world record by planking for 1 hour, 20 minutes and 25 seconds.  Just a few days he destroyed that time and set a new Guinness World Record for planking at 8 hours, 15 minutes, 15 seconds.  Oh, when he was done, he cooled down by doing 75 push ups.  While he has no plans to better that number, he said he might try for the most push ups in an hour.  Congratulations George and thank you for your service.
