Officials with Spirit AeroSystems said in a conference call Friday that the Wichita company will resume production on the Boeing 737 MAX jetliner in March.
The company is expected to slowly restart production and gradually ramp up throughout the year.
Spirit senior vice president and chief financial officer Mark Suchinski said there is still a lot of uncertainty on the timing of the MAX’s return to service. Boeing is expecting to have the plane back in the air this summer.
Spirit is reporting revenue from the fourth quarter of 2019 at $2 billion, up from the same period a year earlier. The increase was driven by higher production volumes on the Boeing 737, 787, and Airbus A350 programs.
