The president and CEO of United Way of the Plains in Wichita has announced he will retire effective June 30th.
Pat Hanrahan has served a total of 47 years as a United Way executive, starting as the executive director of the United Way in Iowa City, Iowa in 1973. He took over at United Way of the Plains in 1985.
Hanrahan said in a press release that he turned 70 in November and in April he will complete 35 years in Wichita. He stated, “Half of my life has been dedicated to the people of south central Kansas and that has been my honor.”
He said he and his wife Renee are planning a “his and her retirement” on the same day.
