WSU, Envision announce research agreement

Wichita State University and Envision have announced an agreement that will have them working together on studies, research and programs to improve the quality of life for people who are blind or vision-impaired.

The agreement covers initiatives and programs related to research grants or funding, new studies and the development of technologies to help people with vision loss to have greater independence at home and in the community.

Dr. Ron Schuchard, executive director of the Gigi and Carl Allen Envision Research Institute, said in a news release that this will add to the Wichita community’s image of being an incubator for innovation.   He said it will set the stage for significant advancements in vision rehabilitation research, patient care and technology.

WSU personnel will have access to Envision’s experts and facilities, along with a population of youth and adults who are blind or vision-impaired.   Envision will be able to work with Wichita State’s academic and research experts, the student body and supporter and facilities.
