Sedgwick County Commissioners voted to close most county buildings to the public starting Monday, March 23,  through Sunday, April 5.

“We are taking preventative measures to limit our employees’ and residents’ exposure to one another in order to do our part to flatten the curve,” said County Commission Chairman Pete Meitzner. “Our community must continue to step up and do what they can to stop the spread of COVID-19.”

The Sedgwick County Courthouse will continue to offer limited access for some 18th Judicial District Court functions and attorneys.

Public safety and mental health services, including COMCARE’s Community Crisis Center will keep operating.

Sedgwick County Tag Offices are not included in this closure. Anyone who needs to do business with an office that is closed will need to use phone and e-mail communication. In-person business may still be allowed but it will be by appointment only.

County employees who can work from home are being told to do so. Paramedics, law enforcement, mental health professionals, and corrections officers will continue to report to work as usual.
